Dedicated to Preserving the Heritage of Traditional Medicine

Passamaquoddy Plant Medicine

Calendar of classes and demonstrations on Traditional Plant Medicine.

Program information:
The focus of all programs will be on medicine traditions of the Passamaquoddy, through the teaching of elder, Fredda Paul. Displays and plant samples will be discussed along with the language and stories that animate this beautiful tradition of medicine. Programs vary according to location, but usually involve a field walk to identify and discuss local plants. Indoor programs include a slide show as well as stories about the medicine and spiritual traditions. Come prepared to take notes.

Some traditional Passamaquoddy medicine products will be available for purchase, as well as a newsletter (see Newsletter webpage)

For all field walks and day-long workshops:
Items to bring: * walking shoes, clothes for rain of unpredictably chilly weather, notebook, camera. *Offering offering of your choice (optional), could be anything held sacred or special including: sage (Artemisia-type, not culinary sage), tobacco (chemical-free), special stone or rock, even compost.

Weather cancellations: Unless there is a torrential downpour, field walks will be held. If it is a rainy day, bring raingear. If the weather is totally wild, we will meet in an indoor location to be announced.

Some programs have limited participants and require advance registration.
